ABOUT RYAN
A dream turned into reality.
Ryan Vargas is more than just another young racer with a dream of making it to the top of NASCAR’s ladder. Ryan started racing at 11 years old in 2012 and proved to be a quick learner, winning dozens of races and championships in lower divisions. Now 23 years old, Vargas has become a known name in the sport of NASCAR. In 2018, Ryan was signed onto the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program and competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East for Rev Racing, finishing 6th overall in the standings. In addition, Ryan was selected to be part of the NASCAR Next Program. In the following years, Vargas made the jump to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and later the Truck Series, garnering numerous top-20’s and three top-10’s in his young NASCAR Career.
Winner of back-to-back Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award's (2016 and 2017), this prestigious honor is awarded to a minority (in Ryan’s case, Hispanic) or female racer who competes in the NASCAR Weekly Series. Ryan is the first and only driver in NASCAR history to receive the honor more than once.
Ryan was awarded $60,000 towards FACES: The National Craniofacial Association as winner of the Comcast Community Champion Award. Born with craniosynostosis, Vargas has dedicated himself to raising awareness for children with craniofacial differences with the goal of encouraging these children to take on life and its challenges.
